Kazım Yiğit Akalın

Senior Partner

Kazım Yiğit Akalın is a Senior Partner and Head of the firm’s Criminal Law department. A well-established litigation lawyer, he has been a member of the Istanbul Bar Association for 14 years. Given his broad contentious practice and knowledge base, he represents a wide variety of clients, including local and international companies and individuals.

Mr Akalın’s practice is highly varied. In the criminal sphere, Mr Akalın advises clients on a wide variety of regulatory issues and criminal allegations. His broad experience means that he can advise clients on various criminal-related matters including corporate crimes, competition disputes, shareholder disputes, organized crimes with international dimensions, fraud and forgery, white collar crimes, defamation crimes, tax evasion and environmental crimes.

Mr Akalın recently focused on cybercrime issues including the man in the middle attacks, phishing attacks, the theft of information by employees and competitors and privacy violations. Along with following up the criminal proceedings, he also deals with the recovery of the defrauded funds by using his experience in the field and wide range of international partners.

Mr Akalın joined the firm in 2015. Prior to that, he served as legal advisor in a leading Turkish construction firm. He then worked as legal counsel for a leading criminal law firm for seven years. He is a vice-president of the Turkish Penal Law Association’s board of directors. Mr. Akalin is also a member of the International Bar Association.
